Event Details

Enjoy an afternoon at the ITC exploring new exhibits in our African-American area!  New Frontiers: African-American Figures from 1850 to 1902 is our current student exhibit by the Young Women’s Leadership Academy that displays applique quilt squares and poetry exploring the history of African-American figures during post-Civil War Reconstruction and Westward Expansion. Destined by Design: A Celebration of African-American Fashion, curated by Ryane Smith, is a collection of outfits created by African-American designers in Texas.  African-American Story Quilts features stories from San Antonio’s history told through the tradition of quilting.  The program will include poetry readings and a chance to meet and talk with the African American Quilt Circle of San Antonio. Ryane Smith will also lead a Q&A with one of the fashion designers from the exhibit, Destined by Design: A Celebration of African-American Fashion.
