Exciting New Learning Resources Are on the Way!

We’re building a dynamic collection of classroom-ready resources that bring Texas’ rich heritage to life. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to pair engaging museum objects with inquiry-based learning strategies, helping K–12 teachers spark curiosity and critical thinking in their students.

Archived Resources (Runner Research Press)

Runner Research Press is an online repository of scholarly and creative work that fosters research, discovery, and learning. Through open and inclusive access, it aims to engage and transform diverse communities. Archived collections of the institute’s educational materials can be found here. The Roadrunner Press offers engaging educational content, including podcasts like Becoming Texas and Museum of the Future, as well as three curriculum collections:

  • Teaching with Stuff – Hands-on activities using artifacts, maps, and documents to bring the museum experience to the classroom. Designed for inquiry-based learning, this guide aligns with Social Studies TEKS.
  • Educator Guides – TEKS-aligned lessons and activities for Grades 4-7, covering topics like ranching, WWII, architecture, immigration, and pioneers.  
  • Texans One and All – A flexible curriculum based on Social Studies and ELA/Reading TEKS, adaptable for all grade levels. It explores the migration, settlement, and cultural legacies of over 20 groups, including Native American, African American, Italian, German, Czech, Tejano, and more.
