This February, the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures welcomes back the African American Quilt Circle of San Antonio for “Quilt in a Jar,” a workshop teaching basic sewing and quilting skills along with the history of the craft.
Original pieces from the quilt circle are on display in the ITC exhibit The Fabric of a People: Black American Quilting in Texas, and this workshop is an opportunity to speak to the creators about their practice while learning traditional quilting techniques. Participants will take home their own “mug rug,” with instruction and materials provided onsite.
Join us at the ITC on Sunday, February 25, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Spaces are limited and RSVPs are required. This activity is intended for ages 18+ and limited to 25 seats. For more information and to reserve your spot, go to the registration page.
