As it determines the Institute of Texan Cultures’ future, The University of Texas at San Antonio is exploring moving it from Hemisfair to a site near the Alamo. UTSA has entered into a memorandum of understanding with 1859 Historic Hotels Ltd., which owns the Crockett Hotel, and the city of San Antonio to evaluate the feasibility of building a roughly 80,000-square-foot building for the institute on a parking lot behind the hotel.
