Not on view

This Mexican branding Iron from La Sirena. This branding iron was forged by hand and is the combination of two letters, the letter ‘P’ and the letter ‘S’. The end of the letter ‘S’ is stopped with an arrow, the end of the letter ‘P’ is a perpendicular line. “La Sirena” is Spanish for “The Mermaid” and may indicate the name of the ranch from which this brand originated. Cattle brands such as this one are used by ranchers to brand their livestock. Each brand is distinctive of the owner. Such brands made identifying livestock easier, especially when herds from multiple properties.
