The preparations for the original Sharecropper’s Cabin exhibition at the ITC sent the Institution’s researchers all over Texas in search of items to outfit the cabin. One of their more fruitful sources was A.M. Cotropia of Hearne, Texas. Folklorist Joe Graham, instrumental to the original exhibition, admiringly described Cotropia as “a dealer in junk.” The ITC purchased several items, impressed by their authenticity. This mirror is one of them.
